SME Repair
We perform SME repairs on all BMW G and I series vehicles!
SME (Battery Management Electronics) is a vehicle ECU that continuously monitors the state of the battery cells and the parameters that are necessary for the correct operation of the high-voltage system.
The main functions of SME are:
- Activation and deactivation of the high voltage system.
- Monitoring and measuring the temperature of all battery cells, as well as monitoring the current strength in the high-voltage system.
- Monitoring the high-voltage battery cooling system.
- Monitoring the charge and remaining life of the high-voltage battery unit.
- Protective function (power and temperature control, monitoring and control of high-voltage contacts, insulation damage analysis, etc.)
There are cases when during the operation of the vehicle this component fails and requires repair or replacement. The most common cause of failure of this ECU is an accident. In this case, in addition to the triggered pyropatrons, the unit records a "collision message", which subsequently makes it impossible to further use the vehicle. The car simply "does not drive", since SME blocks the activation of the high-voltage system.
Why choose ECU repair?
- You cannot install a "used" SME, as there is a component lock and the ECU is tied only to a specific car.
- Price. Restoring a native SME costs less than buying a new unit.
The main models of cars on which these electronic components were installed:
I4 (G26)
IX1 (U11)
IX3 (G08)
IX (I20)
I5 (G60)
XM (G09)
We can also link and program the SME unit to your car. You don't have to come to us for this, you can link the SME remotely via the Internet. A regular ENET cable and a laptop with Internet access are enough for this. We can also help with linking after "unsuccessful programming" of the SME, when you receive errors in protecting the components of the cell modules.
